Biisivirta — the basics

🎵 What is Biisivirta?

Biisivirta is a real-time music service where every listener hears the same track at exactly the same position. No seeking, no personal playlists — just listening together. Each stream (channel) plays different music around the clock.

▶ How does listening work?

Pick a stream from the home page. Each one has its own genre and vibe.

Press Play — the browser asks permission once. After that the song plays automatically whenever you open the stream.

The stream syncs itself with the server every few seconds. If the song skips or lags, it self-corrects.

💬 Chat and voting

When logged in you can:

  • Chat with other listeners in real time
  • Vote tracks up or down — heavily downvoted tracks are removed from rotation
  • Add tracks to a stream by pasting a YouTube link
If a video is broken (deleted or embedding disabled), press the "⚠ Video not working" button. The admin sees the report and can remove the track.

📺 TV login with QR code

Bilevirta opens on your TV screen by logging in with a QR code. Here's how:

Open on your TV (in a browser) https://www.selaa.fi/biisivirta/tv-login.php

Scan the QR code on screen with your phone

Log in on your phone (or use an existing session) and approve the TV connection

The TV automatically moves through the stream list to the Bilevirta view
Already logged in? If you are already logged in in your Biisivirta browser, the TV page skips straight to the stream selector without a QR code.

Bilevirta mode is designed as a party backdrop on your television:

  • Large track info: artist and track name
  • Clock and QR code for guest song requests
  • The stream syncs the TV automatically — no manual seeking

📱 Guests suggest songs via QR

The QR code shown on the TV screen opens a song request form on guests' phones:

Guest scans the QR code on the TV screen

Pastes a YouTube link and optionally their name

The track is added to the queue — played once in an upcoming slot
No login required. Each phone/browser can suggest 5 songs per 30 minutes.

📥 Party mode — save guest requests

Party mode is on by default for all registered users. When a guest suggests a song it is automatically saved to your inbox.

  • See incoming requests on the Inbox page or in your profile — Inbox
  • You can add an incoming track directly to your own Bilevirta playlist
  • Inbox items never expire — they stay until you delete them
  • You can turn off party mode per stream in your profile — your profile

📋 Your own Bilevirta playlists

You can create personal playlists for Bilevirta on the My Lists page: My Lists page:

  • Create a new list and give it a name
  • Add tracks: choose from a stream's track list or paste a YouTube URL
  • Reorder tracks by dragging or delete individual ones
  • Export the list as a JSON file for backup
  • Import a previously exported list back in

🔌 Disconnecting the TV

You can disconnect the TV remotely from your phone or computer:
